Range Rules

Range Rules — 22/Pistol Rifle Range

The Latvian Anglers and Hunters Club enforces strict safety protocols at the Berzaine 22/Pistol Rifle Range. Members and guests must comply at all times.

Supervision and Attendance

Members may not shoot alone. You must have either:

  • A non-shooting observer present, OR
  • Another shooter present

Exception: This requirement is waived on Saturdays when TSA Range Officers are on duty supervising.

Pre-Notification

All members must pre-advise their intended use of the range prior to arrival. Email the designated contact with:

  • Participant names
  • Date and time of intended shooting

Pre-notification is not required for Saturday shooting between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., April through December.

Failure to pre-notify results in immediate dismissal from the range.

Target Protocols

  • Use the provided backer boards for all targets — six slots are available on the target line.
  • Backer board materials are stored in the shed behind the 50-metre range.
  • Pinning targets directly to wooden supports = expulsion.
  • Shooting anything other than paper targets on the boards = expulsion.

Security and Membership Verification

  • Six security cameras monitor the facility.
  • All shooters must carry a current LAHC membership card or be the explicit guest of a cardholder.
  • No Card — No Shooting.
  • TSA members must sign in with the Range Officer before shooting.

Why These Rules Matter

The 22/Pistol range was shut down by the Chief Firearms Officer in 2025 due to compliance issues. Substantial improvements, funded primarily by member contributions, were required to reopen the range. These rules exist to prevent abuse and protect the membership’s continued range privileges. Please don’t be the reason it closes again.
